If the public and private sectors could learn to work together, we could solve some big problems:
1. KEY TAKEAWAYS from this article (Investopedia):
Baby Boomers are retiring in large numbers.
Many do not have enough saved for their retirement.
Beyond a lack of planning, a key reason Baby Boomers lack retirement savings is due to the 2008 financial crisis, as well as the chronic low interest rates since.
3. Skyrocketing costs of living ~ from Pew Research
A rising share of Americans say the availability of affordable housing is a major problem in their local community. In October 2021, about half of Americans (49%) said this was a major problem where they live, up 10 percentage points from early 2018. In the same 2021 survey, 70% of Americans said young adults today have a harder time buying a home than their parents’ generation did.
“The scores, which districts released individually at the request of EdSource, show sharp declines in all grade levels from 2019, before Covid forced the closure of most campuses to in-person learning, and 2022. “
All of these problems are interrelated:
We need modern solutions to modern problems. Partly due to technological and societal change, we are headed into uncharted waters. While modern problems need modern solutions, and there has been a lot of progress with private-public partnerships in government, finance, medical and retirement options, funded in innovative ways, some of the solutions can be found in the past, what you may call “the old way of raising children and caring for the elderly”
Many older adults and caregivers worry about the cost of medical care and other help they may need. These expenses can use up a significant part of monthly income, even for families who thought they had saved enough.
I am going to propose a bold solution here, one that will help to solve all of these issues simultaneously, and increase the quality of life for all of these:
From medicare, medicaid, state partnerships, Social Security Income to Insurance Companies and private sector solutions, there are trillions of dollars available, and being spent to address these issues. We can do this, by solving some obvious inefficiencies in the way that things are now:
The Inefficiencies of modern life:
Living alone is not cost effective. A much more cost-effective and sustainable model from our American past is the extended family, as in the family farm.
Just as it is difficult, even impossible at times for a single parent to juggle all the stresses and costs of providing for a child, such as myself, who was orphaned at 11 years old; it is hard if not impossible, at the very least expensive, for an elderly person without such a family nearby to sustain a healthy and productive lifestyle.
“It takes a village..” Children need examples, elders, friends, attention and support to grow through the formative years properly. Who is more qualified, to fill that gap, than baby-boomers like me, who are still healthy, and able to make a contribution, and old enough to want to, selflessly? Who is better able, to help with the children of the single parents?
For many of us, our needs are small. The children, need essentials, education, activities, and love above all. We seniors, many of us, are still able, to provide many things. Myself, I can still do most of the work, I have an income, I have skills (carpentry, gardening, business administration) and can teach others, with successful and admirable children and grandchildren of my own, who live where the cost of living is too high for me.
Going out to pasture, and producing nothing, for those of us who have always worked, have always made a contribution, does not make us happy.
The single parents need us, the current lifestyle of living alone is not fun.
By sharing a facility, a campus, if you will, we can reduce costs, support each other, and, I believe, even cash flow with profit centers like farming, construction, and service to the community.
The behemoth insurance companies and government partnerships, already invest in real estate, hand outs, family farms, education and other lumbering dinosaur solutions , Why not this idea?
Why I wrote this: it is because I have a dream, for other disadvantaged children and adults to have it better.
I was going crazy one day at a time, early retired and barely paying my rent, so I gave notice, and started looking for owner contract land. I moved my stuff to a Concho AZ mini-storage, and camped for free for one week, which was all it took to find my land. I financed a toy hauler RV, set it up, and BAM, here I am: I will own the land in four years, the RV in six, and I am paying 100 less than rent, taxes $54 per year!
You can do it too. Don’t live a meaningless life! Now is the time, interest rates are low, the economy improving, and real estate is making a steady, sustainable comeback!
I am all alone out here, 11 miles from beautiful (much more expensive) Sho Lo AZ, so I did some research on the lot next to me; the guy died in 2003! Cedar Ridge Commercial Park is Zoned Commercial/Agricultural/Residential/Recreational – in other words, ANYTHING GOES!
I want nice neighbors, there are a few nice custom homes scattered around this mountain, at 6877 feet elevation. Call me. I’ll help you! 541-982-9291
The most tax advantaged way to do business is to do it from home, even if you already have a good job. A home business can be anything that you are good at, know about, or have something to say about. You can write off travel and entertainment expenses, part of your housing expenses, and legally and ethically boost your income without tax consequence legally and easily if you know how.
What you spend from this years tax returns on doing so, will come off the top when you file taxes next year, before you declare any income. I legally supplement my early retirement income, pay zero taxes on that income, I do not declare enough profit to reduce my early retirement income, and I do my taxes in less than thirty minutes online, without submitting any documentation; and you can do that too.
In my case, it is an online consultancy, and independent journalism (blogging). So, I can work from anywhere, from home, and do this.
To protect your assets, whatever they are, from real estate to income, it is a very good idea to form a separate entity for the business, with it’s own assets, liabilities, and credit rating; usually an LLC, which is a very flexible entity that can be taxed like a corporation or a partnership, can be an investment trust (like an R.E.I.T) or any service business like mine, or even an online store.
If you have a high paying job even, the tax advantages of this can be huge: by offsetting a large portion of you current living expenses against any income that you generate, even if you lose money, which is expected for three years after you start that business.
If you seek advice from accountants and lawyers, they will offset any savings with fees, and are not business people themselves really, very pragmatic, and security minded.
Fortunately, you do not need them to do this, because it is your right.
For many many businesses, all that you need is:
An Internet connection
A website
Online Marketing
Your time and talent
Any expertise or knowledge of a market that you bring with you from your previous life becomes an asset, even the people that you know become the starting of your audience and market, and often a source of investment capital if it is needed.
In my case for instance (early retired), I can build the business without regard for profit for three years, then, at 66, I can make all that I want on top of my Social Security Income. In the meantime, I can travel, spend, build my business, even take in money, with no tax consequence, and almost no overhead.
In fact, if you spend 1000-1500 to start such a business this year, you can get it all back on next years taxes, even lose money and build ongoing carry forward tax loss, and live better and spend more all year, legally, and ethically.
You can even have help with the website, marketing, branding, advice, and even help raising any needed capital, if any, on this budget. I can provide:

Now that 2016 draws to a close, it is time to get specific about how we will repair our USA, drain the swamp in Washington, and also restore our American culture.
No part of our nation has suffered more under failed ideology and the deliberate, Satanic sabotage of the “New World Order” than our families.
Liberty, freedom, and wealth once prominent in our nation has been undermined by way of the destruction of the American family, and the division of the generations, the races, and our children from any semblance of respect and guidance.
In order to solve these modern problems, we need modern solutions, since returning to the 1950’s USA is just is not an option.
In order to move forward, we must focus on solutions, rather than problems, and we can.
With changes made possible by new and disruptive technology, the landscape, the options, the possibilities and the solutions have also changed.
The developers who built all those track-homes with chem-lawns, financed by a corrupt banking industry and a run-away government, never intended to live in them, and neither should we. There are better alternatives now.
The Federal Government is going to be remodeled, and we need to abandon the past:
revitalize dormant assets
move property, education, and jobs out of the public sector
rebuild our private sector and our families
educate and enrich our children
rebuild our economy
reform our leadership.
The modern solutions to these challenges are easier to execute than you would imagine, and imagination is the key to positive change:
Stop drinking the “Cool-aid”
Regardless of which side you were once on, this is not a football game, it is not the past, and we all win or lose together. We all win, or we all lose, as one human race. The lies and corruption on both sides need to end, we all need to wake up, and we need to come together.
Materialism, sin, hedonism, greed, and pride are the real enemies. Love, honesty, accountability, enlightenment and integrity have always been, and will always be the answers.
The knowledge of the ages is now at our fingertips online. We have the technology, and the will, for a true Meritocracy, a true Democracy, based on proven principles, for the first time ever in human history.
Responsible, Sustainable, Healthy Lifestyles are Doable
Modern technology makes it possible to live anywhere, communicate from anywhere, grow food anywhere, without wires, without commuting for hours in traffic, without pollution, and with less stress and less sickness.
Lights and technology can be powered by the sun
Waste can be recycled and composted and re-used
Dormant assets, empy buildings, closed military bases, and ghost-towns can become thriving, healthy, sustainable lifestyles.
But in order to accomplish these goals, we must first re-examine how and where we live, abandon outdated venues, and revitalize our world for better living.
Re-inventing the Family is Paramount
We can never return to the past. Our children are our future. Our children need us to fix this world, so that they will have even more opportunities, even more love, even more guidance and education, and even more wealth than we have seen in our times. Human development is the key to fixing our society. Lets look first at our needs, then fill them:
Humans need:
Food
Shelter
Each other – other humans
Love
Freedom
Diversity – we have different talents, aptitudes
Education – our potential is unlimited when we are inspired
Our assetts:
Almost unlimited natural resources – shortage is outdated by technology – there is plenty of room
Buildings, land, even other planets – we have all we need to work with
Know how, wisdom, understanding, now available to all in a few clicks
Potential – we can achieve anything if we can decide to do so, believe that it will happen, and work together to execute a plan
Enlightenment – as science advances, it merges more and more with spirituality. We are beginning to understand who we are, what we are here for, and what to do about it.
Modern Solutions to Ancient Problems:
Empty buildings, dormant assets can be revitalized as modern tribal families
Poeple too old to do physical labor can help with the children, cooking, gardening, marketing, teaching…
Orphaned children can be adopted into new sustainable tribes
Unemployed, forgotten workers can be offered a lifestyle as a member of the tribe
Each of us can do something, for the good of a more localized, tribal, modern adopted family
We are gregarious, we need each other, somebody to love, somebody to hang out with, somebody to interact with
We dont need so many vehicles, so much travel, so much shipping, if we grow, serve, produce, manufacture, and buy local
We can have one pool, one fitness room, one hot tub, one garden, one meeting hall, one playground, one home-school, a few vehicles, serving one tribal-sized adopted family
Sustainable communities are not only greener, they are economically efficient
If we need less, we can live more, have more time to love, to teach, and to enjoy our lives. As a family, we can live well, and we can prosper, anywhere.
I have been been planning this for many years, and myself, and some of my many contacts, are going to start actually creating these adopted, tribal-sized families. It is not about money, it is about Agape love.
As we identify dormant assets (empty buildings, empty land, ghost towns) we will be forming and revitalizing them thus, and offering various people, with various incomes and talents, opportunities to participate, and to join us, and to never worry again for food, shelter, love, inspiration, support, or anything else that we all need.
If you are interested in participating:
To never have to worry again
To live well
To become more healthy, less stressed
To give back
To help our disengaged, lost, homeless, addicted children
To teach
To Love
To be a part of something wonderful
To farm
To create
To live a better life

What follows is a full disclosure of who I really am, beginning many years ago, when I had my own broker-dealer in Albuquerque NM in 1985, without knowing that I needed the permission of the local Patron to do so:
Ladies and Gentleman, it is with great sorrow, and the urgency to avoid having what happened to me, happen again, to you, that I share with you this compelling story of the huge potential of a start-up venture which almost achieved greatness in the last five years, and is now a complete loss: The story of Coracle Incorporated, formerly known as Oregonfreeads.com, and Ads for Free, Inc.
Oregonfreeads.com was formed as an Oregon corporation in 2001 in Springfield Oregon. My name is Israel Rothman, and I started the company to pursue an idea that my employer could not understand: a way to automate my job.
I had been in fleet and Internet sales for a local auto dealership for years, and had become proficient in achieving search engine placement for my employer.
As the Internet became more and more competitive, my job became harder and harder to do, requiring me to build mirror sites linked together and employ all sorts of tricks to achieve first page organic placement: my idea was to automate this process by giving away free ads and auctions; using the user input to do my work for me, and build link-popularity and submission activity which would cause the marketplace to move through the website: oregonfreeads.com. I had some rudimentary scripts written, and began selling sponsorships of categories to local businesses.
Within a year, we had over 50 companies stuck to the top of the search engines for their chosen words, and we realized that we could actually guarantee results for chosen key word searches. We decided to offer a money-back guarantee; we bought adsforfree.com for $800, and we went nationwide by way of a strategic alliance formed with Real Estate Magazine (RISMedia.com) which put us ‘on the map’ as a provider for the Real Estate Industry, which, at the time, was the only market really ready to understand such a product.
Believe it or not, people in those days would scoff at the idea that was even legal to do this, which now, as you know, is a multi-billion dollar industry just a few years later: where SEO (Search Engine Optimization) has blended with and become mainstream advertising.
It was a wonderful, fun company that everyone loved; we grew to over one million in sales by the fourth year, with over 500 customers all over the US that we kept on top of the search engines’ organic results.
Unfortunately, capitalized on only 110,000 in private placement money from the sale of company stock, we were grossly undercapitalized for such volume; and changes in the market required changes in our programming we needed to capitalize.
I found a group of real estate investors in the San Francisco area who offered to back us. It seemed like a good fit; they had deep pockets, and understood, we thought, what we had.
The unfortunate events of the last year are the result of that investment.
I certainly am not without blame; I was very tired after working very hard to get through the start up; the company had grown beyond my ability to manage it: there was infighting, and other impending problems; so it was mutually agreed by all that there would be a change and the new investors would participate in management. What happened next, although very common, was an absolute disaster, resulting in huge loss and business failure: please be mindful to avoid these mistakes: as it could happen to you, in your business, and it will, if you let it:
The beginning of the end:
Mistake number one: stop listening to the guy who knows the market and the product:
Immediately when the investors gained complete control they removed me from all activities; they stopped listening to me about what needed to be done on the back end (programming) and the sales effort, assuming that the programmer (whom I had given stock to during the start up) knew best about the programming, and that they (although they barely knew what SEO was) knew better how to market a company this size.
Mistake number two: change everything at the same time:
They changed the name of the company, changed the way of selling it, watered down the product description; all at the same time: they were so sure of themselves with all their money and ‘expertise’: they saw no need to be scientific about it.
Mistake number three: over-spending:
Indeed the company had huge potential, and they intended to invest a lot; but to move the company to Newport Beach, and add on over $30,000 per month in non-income producing executive salaries was a mistake so early in the process.
Mistake number four: listen to the Tech department over sales:
They were so sure that the multiple experiments they were conducting at the same time would work, they figured they did not need to worry about sales, and spent huge amounts of money on technology which, while it is very cool, did nothing to drive sales, and used up valuable capital.
Mistake number five: hire the wrong people:
They brought in a marketing director who was insulated from me (they were afraid I would tell him things they thought un-important) unfortunately, although the guy was qualified, he knew nothing about our fast moving, constantly changing marketplace: and the learning curve was extremely expensive.
Mistake number six: do not promote from within:
Massive housecleaning and turnover is common in these cases: but they actually brought in people who were not qualified, and installed them on salaries above people who were the backbone of the company: a top-down management style which caused a lot of in-fighting and jockeying for position; and all kinds of deceit from people trying to cover their own asses rather than do the right things.
Mistake number seven; when things are not working, ignore it and keep going:
Although they never hit any of their projections, and although all this had been predicted by yours truly in the only board meeting he was ever allowed to attend, they just ignored these discrepancies and stuck to the experimental plan: isolating me more when I protested.
Mistake number eight; when the business plan isn’t working; spend more!
Although we kept running out of money due to all these mistakes, they would not change course, and just kept loaning the company more and more, going deeper and deeper into debt: the almost debt free corporation one year ago, is now in debt over $600,000.
Mistake number nine; when things are bad, rip off the salespeople:
No longer able to explain the missed projections, unable to raise more money, the started changing the sales compensation plan trying to increase the margins: everybody knows what happens when you do that.
Mistake number ten; tell everybody that everything is ok, and keep going farther beyond the point of not return.
When they could not pay the employees, the made excuses, and kept digging.
If there is a moral to this familiar story of all the classic mistakes being made at the same time, it is this:
Stuff changes; in life, in business, in the marketplace: when things aren’t working, consider changing course; and when they are, be reverent and careful about changing anything, and do it carefully, slowly, scientifically.
I am a lifelong entrepreneur, and this goes with the territory; I am happy to be alive, living in America, and to have another chance ‘at bat’.
But I have lost everything again, and five years of hard work, and it could have been avoided; and it could happen to you, faster and easier than you ever imagined.
